The Ascention of Humanity

The following two TED talks get at something I mentioned in the previous post. Below, "Steven Pinker charts the decline of violence from Biblical times to the present, and argues that, though it may seem illogical and even obscene, given Iraq and Darfur, we are living in the most peaceful time in our species' existence."

Secondly, and perhaps more applicable when considering "globalization" and the future of global development, Hans Rosling as he "debunks third-world myths with the best stats you've ever seen":
